Cables can cause electric shocks and of course.......have beak, will chew! Your bird will not necessarily distinguish between branches provided for this activity and electrical cabling.
Make sure no cables or leads can be reached through the cage bars by an inquisitive occupant.
If you find your bird chewing on any cable ALWAYS make sure to switch it off and disconnect it BEFORE removing it. It may have already been damaged.
